Random Fact for March 6, 2008

As is true for the majority of people that I know, I really like sleep. This should not be a surprise for anyone. It’s generally considered to be an essential function for bodily maintenance, and the feeling of refreshment after a good sleep is absolutely amazing.

However, I want to point out that I don’t sleep very well in general. I have established times that I go to bed just about every night in an attempt to adjust my body to one particular schedule. I rarely am able to fall asleep quickly. Thoughts swirl around in my mind like a wild … Continue Reading

Random Fact for March 5, 2008

Let me preface this by saying that I was actually planning to write this for today’s fact before I read Jackie’s post regarding the same topic. However, I didn’t get around to writing it last night, because I’ve been quite busy lately. So, my initial reaction was to delay this until another day, but then I decided against it.

I like “swear words.” I think that they hold a necessary place in the English vocabulary and that they can be used to put emphasis on certain feelings that often need to go along with the words they modify. Other times, nothing … Continue Reading

The end of an era.

I was on my way to school this morning when I received a text message from my brother-in-law with the news. Brett Favre, the legendary quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, had announced his plans to retire.

I really like to drink water.

I suppose this shouldn’t be all that much of a shock, but in the past I have traditionally been someone that drinks only a small amount of just plain water and relied on other beverages to quench my thirst. However, recently, I’ve really developed a liking to just drinking water. I don’t really care how it tastes, as long as it isn’t really bad. In fact, I’ve mostly quit drinking other beverages. A couple of times per week I might have a soda, which is almost always diet. Other times, I might buy orange juice, … Continue Reading

Thoughts on the future…

Okay…

That post I promised.

Things have been going pretty well at school. Grades were good. Classes are going well this semester so far. But I’ve been thinking lately about another option besides medical school and becoming a physician. I’m absolutely loving my Genetics class right now, and I think that it’s something worth pursuing as a career goal.

Now, to be clear, it wouldn’t change much in terms of undergrad school. I’ll still be getting a degree in Biology, and I still need to do well in my classes. So the preparation doesn’t really change much. I would probably need to do … Continue Reading
